Brain Based Teaching

Technology has generated one of the greatest transformations in the way we as individuals access information, communicate and live. There is a growing body of research suggesting that repeated exposure to technology is causing the brain to rewire in different ways than in previous generations. Let me provide an example. Studies have concluded that over exposure to television, fragments children's attention span as well as decrease active imagination. The invention of the internet further changed the way we gather information and how the brain process it. Children in today's generation typically have an attention span equivalent to their age. So how do we effectively engage today's children in our fast paced society?
Brain based learning and teaching is "purposeful engagement of strategies that apply to how our brain works in the context of education." In simple terms, the brain in involved in everything that we are involved in and connected with. (Eric Jensen)
In blogs to come, I will provide strategies and examples of engaging activities to enhance children's learning ability to retain information.
I'm looking forward to sharing my research and journey with you!
